One year my husband and I had decided that we wouldn't exchange gifts....we had a tendency to go overboard and it was stressful always trying to 'top' ourselves from teh past year - we thought that the only way to limit it was to not exchange at all. But then we were sitting in a little coffee shop in Kingston and he had a great idea. How about we think up a fun theme and just go buy gifts that fit the theme...the only catch was we only had an hour to do it!
We decided to buy things that were cool, meant for a fool - and tied into Yule (okay so maybe our categories were a bit ridiculous - but over the past years the themes have improved! lol). So we finished our coffees and off we sprinted through the Kingston streets - and found what we could. It was the most fun Christmas shopping we ever had - no expectations, no endless wandering - just fun! The presents were thoughtful, inexpensive and a great memory.
