Skip breakfast? I'd rather gouge out my eyes with forks :) PB&J Smoothie to the rescue!

The alarm was set for 5:06am today. This would leave me with exactly 40 minutes to walk the dog, shower, get dressed, pack my bag for the day, take the elevator down to the 'centre of the universe' (aka my parking spot 10 floors down) and get to my first client of the day. Did I miss anything in there?

I sure did.

Breakfast!

I wouldn't claim to tell you the hazards of skipping breakfast because I couldn't tell you first hand. I've never actually done it. But I can only imagine that it would be awful! On many days, breakfast is the thing propelling me out of bed. Usually I allot enough time for omelet making, but on these early mornings I grab a smoothie and head out the door. In the weeks to come you'll see many more smoothie recipes, but for now I'll show the the current fav on my list :)

PB&J smoothie - makes 1
  • 1/4 cup of plain fat free greek yogurt
  • 5 sliced strawberries
  • 1/2 scoop of vanilla protein powder (I use Allmax Nutrition IsoFlex Whey Isolate Protein Powder at the moment-it's gluten free)
  • 1 tbsp of natural peanut butter
  • handful of ice
  • 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk (a lower calorie alternative to milk with the same calcium content)
  • 1 tsp of sugar free vanilla instant jell-o pudding mix

1) Blend it all together :) Done!

I like to use a magic bullet in the morning. It's easy to throw in the dishwasher so it's less clean-up. This smoothie is also a good place to throw in your Greens+ if you take it. If you can ignore the greeness, you wouldn't know it's in there :)

  1. i had almost the identical smoothie this AM...though I do almond butter and I do not do the ice (I use frozen fruit) or the jello powder...what does that do?
I also add in some ground flax seed for some fibre. looking forward to some other smoothie recipes!
