Green Tea Lattes - from home! Save your money :)

When I decided to cut out coffee from my daily routine, I needed to substitute a new beverage into my morning so Green Tea Lattes became my new go-to. With the amazing benefits of green tea this was a no-brainer. The problem? The impact on my wallet! With green tea lattes running between $4-5 per drink, having 1 or 2 per day was getting pricey so I realized I'd have to start making them at home!

It's a simple drink to make. Most specialty tea stores sell matcha powder (which is green tea ground down into a fine powder). Matcha powder is said to have even more anti-oxidant properties than regular green tea because you consume the entire leaf, rather than just the water that it's steeped in. It is pricey to buy - but you only use a bit with each drink so it will last you!

To make it: combine 1/2 cup boiling water with 1 cup of heated unsweetened almond milk/skim milk with 1-1.5 tsp matcha powder. To avoid clumping, you have a couple of options - if you have a steamer, steam your milk, water and matcha powder together - or if you don't have one, put the mixture your magic bullet and blend! It turns out frothy and great - and is only a fraction of the price of a green tea latte at your local coffee shop! Drink up!
