Turkey can be for everyday! Apple Cinnamon-Rubbed Turkey

So often, people think of turkey as being a 'holiday-only' meal, but it's an easy way to cook up a ton of lean protein with amazing flavour! Don't be afraid of cooking turkey. It's easy as these 5 steps and while it's cooking you can prep all of your other food for the week. It's a huge time saver!

Apple Cinnamon-Rubbed Turkey
 Ingredients:
- 1 turkey (for this recipe I used an 11lb bird - it was enough for 6 dinner servings and a big container of leftovers!)
- cinnamon
- 1 apple cut into approx 6 sections
- 1 onion cut into quarters
- 3 cloves of garlic
1) Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and set a rack in the middle of the oven.
2) Put turkey onto roasting pan & stuff the turkey with apple and onion pieces.
3) Using the sharp point of a knife, puncture approximately 6 holes throughout the turkey and insert 1/2 clove of garlic into each hole.
4) Rub the upper surface of the turkey liberally with cinnamon and pour approx 1/2-1" of water in the bottom of the pan (this will help keep it moist!)
5) Cover turkey with foil and put into oven. Cook for approximately 20 minutes per pound, removing the foil after the first hour to help the turkey brown beautifully. When the juices run clear, the turkey is done! Remove from oven and recover with foil and then a towel for at least 20 minutes (it can keep warm under the towel for more than an hour). This will allow the juices to settle and your turkey will be incredibly moist. It's also a great way to have your turkey prepped before dinner and leaves a hot oven open for roasting veggies, etc.

Looking for a great meal pairing? This turkey goes really well with apple-pecan sweet potatoes and roasted cauliflower and for dessert? Too-good-to-be-true brownies of course! The ultimate in comfort food without veering off track from your goals!
