Christmas dinner: Take 1

One of the biggest mistakes people make around the holidays is that they decide to try new dishes on their big holiday dinner nights. The uncertainty of whether or not they will turn out, plus the added stress of learning how to cook them makes that big dinner feel much more daunting than it needs to be. My advice when planning your meals? Choose dishes that you've made before, and if you want to try something new, have a trial run!

Christmas is officially one week today which leaves me one week to try out some new tasties just in time for dinner next week. So what's on my menu and what do I have to 'practice' making before the big day?

Tried, tested and true:
- Goat's cheese, dried cranberries and candied pecan mixed green salad with a honey-lime vinaigrette
- green beans, steamed with slivered almonds
- sea-bass/other white fish, baked with lemon and dill

Need to give-it-a-go:
- sweet potato souffle
- Dark Roast Creme Brulee (adapted from Eatingwell.com)

Stay tuned this week to see how my Sweet Potatoes and creme brulee measure up!
